Hamilton Kerby

???? - 1767

Biography

  1. Will of Hamilton Kerby [late of Antigua but now residing in the parish] of Eltham Kent [made in 1765] proved 25/09/1767. Under the will, he left an annuity of 拢400 p.a. to his wife secured on his estates of Parry's (拢250 p.a.) and Weir's (拢150 p.a.), to reduce to 拢300 p.a. if she 'intermarried' after his death. He freed 'a negro woman' called Nanny, the mother of a 'mulatto boy' John to whom he left a monetary legacy. The will identified his brother-in-law Stephen Blizard (also one of his trustees) and his son Thomas Norbury Kerby and daughters Jane, Elizabeth, Ann and Sarah. In a codicil he varied the legacies his daughters to 拢3000 from 拢2000 should Jane, who was ill, die.
