Biography

Sister and legatee of James Trant of Montserrat who died c. 1804: Elizabeth Hill of Reading counterclaimed on the Lower or Lower Windward estate on Montserrat for 拢1600, 32 years arrears (of an annuity of 拢50 p.a.). The money was paid to trustees including Henry Trant. Apparently a different woman from the Elizabeth Hill (q.v.) who claimed unsuccessfully for Reeds Hill & Spring Estate in Montserrat, who was presumably the widow of Thomas Hill (q.v.).

  1. Will of Elizabeth Hill widow of Reading Berkshire [made 09/12/1836] proved 26/01/1837. She left personal effects to several people including Mrs Hill the widow of the late Thomas Hill Esq. Her residual legatee was Edward Ashby [also given as Ashley] of No. 16 Golsten Buildings New Road Bermondsey subject to an annuity of 3 shillings per week to Ashby's father.
