¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Laws Residential Summer School 2019
31 July 2018
From 22nd-26th July, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Faculty of Laws welcomed aspiring law students for a week-long summer school which aimed to give them a taste of university life.
The packed programme for the week-long summer school included classes covering various aspects of Law, such as family law; contract law; and and criminal. The seminars, taught by staff at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Laws, were designed to give the students a taste of the modules offered as part of the LLB programme.
Students also listened to talks on university life, wellbeing, living in London, and making their application to study at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Laws stand out. A highlight of the week was a visit to the Supreme Court, which highlighted the advantages of studying in the heart of legal London.
In the evenings, participants were given opportunities to socialise and explore London - including attending a West End play and taking a cruise along the River Thames.
The Laws Residential Summer School is part of a number of summer schools for students in year 12 attending state schools, run by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Access and Widening Participation. The Residential Summer Schools are eligible for students who show strong academic potential but come from backgrounds which are currently under-represented at university. The programme is free of charge for participating students and is designed to encourage them to raise their aspirations and give them an insight into ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s degree programmes and student life.
