Prerequisite for entry
Successful completion of Italian Syllabus 1 and Syllabus 2.
Students will be familiar with these grammar and linguistic structures.
Term duration
10 x 2-hour classes.
Aims and objectives
The aim of the course is to enable students with a knowledge of basic Italian to reach an intermediate level and to understand and communicate in Italian on many practical everyday matters related to various aspects of Italian culture.

- Arranging appointments (time and place).
- Talking about events in the past
- Giving advice and expressing opinions about food and restaurants
- Talking about health: giving advice and describing symptoms

Linguistic structures/ Phonetics
Basic rules of the pronunciation of spoken Italian.
Grammar
- Revision of the main grammatical points seen in level 2 (part 1)
- 鈥渟tare + gerundio鈥� the 鈥搃ng form.
- Direct pronouns with the 鈥減assato prossimo鈥�.
- Position of pronouns with the Infinitive tense: 鈥渄evi comprarlo/ lo devi comprare鈥�
- Relative pronouns 鈥渃he鈥� and 鈥渃hi鈥� (鈥渃ui鈥�)
- Revision of conditional
- Revision of contrast 鈥渋mperfetto鈥� and 鈥淧assato prossimo鈥�
- Imperative 鈥� formal and informal with pronouns
- Imperative 鈥� negative form
- Verb 鈥渟ervire鈥�
- Comparative and superlative of 鈥渂uono鈥� and 鈥渂ene鈥�
