Computers in the Library

Computer access

The Library has the following computers offering our registered users access to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and/or ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH networks. The computers are available from 15 minutes after opening time, and until 15 minutes before closing time.Ìý

  • ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH network - to log in you must have ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH credentials as the ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH network is available only to ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH staff. The PCs offerÌýaccount holders access to the internet, Trust email, the clinical workstation, Word, Excel, etc. Always remember to log off after use.
  • desktop@ucl for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff and studentsÌý- to log in you must have ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº credentials. Our desktop@ucl workstations can be retracted into the desk to double up as a study space. ION students can also access desktop@ucl computers in the two cluster rooms at 7 Queen Square, as well as in other ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Libraries.
  • Docking stations: we have 6 docking stations with large monitors which you can connect your laptop to via USB-c cables which are provided.
  • ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Explore Access Points (EAPs) - to log in, you must use the barcode on the reverse of your ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Library membership card. More information about using the EAPsÌýis available on our website. Please note that some online resources are subject to publisher's licensing restrictions and can only be accessed by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff and students.

Wi-Fi access

¹û¶³Ó°ÔºÌýuses eduroam for Wi-FiÌýaccess and an eduroam point is available in Queen Square Library as well as other locations throughout the College.

  • ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff and students - use your ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº userid and password to log on to eduroam. See help with connecting to eduroam at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.Ìý
  • Staff and students from other universities - eduroam is available throughout the world and users from participating organisations may connect to eduroam using their home institution credentials if their institution participates in eduroam. Please note that you must have already set up access at your home institution before arriving at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº. For further details visit the .
  • ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº visitor Wi-FiÌý(including NHS staff when in the Queen Square Library)Ìý- seeÌýinstructions for connectingÌýfor connecting to ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºGuest via The Cloud.ÌýNB: this service gives access to the internet but does not provide any access to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº electronic journals and databases.
  • ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH staff Wi-FiÌý-Ìý¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH provide aÌýStaff Wi-Fi. Please check the Trust intranet for access details. NB: this Wi-FiÌýis not available inside the Queen Square Library and library staff cannot set up the access for you.
  • ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH visitor Wi-FiÌý- ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH is rolling out a Guest Wi-fi for patients and their visitors. NB:Ìý this Wi-Fi is not available inside the Queen Square Library but is available in the hospital building.

Access to university resources via eduroam/¹û¶³Ó°ÔºGuest

Please note: the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº ISD department have informed us that non-¹û¶³Ó°Ôº users of eduroam will not be able to access ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº restricted services (including ejournals). This includes NHS users, ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºGuest users and eduroam users from other universities. Only ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº users of eduroam will be able to access ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº restricted services.Ìý
