The Queen Square Library has extensive collections of journals - some in printÌýformat, others asÌýe-journals (´Ç²Ô±ô¾±²Ô±ð).Ìý

Print journals

°ä³ó±ð³¦°ìÌýÌýto find out which ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº library site holds the journal you need in print format. Print journals cannot be borrowed, they are for use in the library only and you will need to visit the library in person to consult them. Alternatively, if you only require a single article you can request this via the Scan & Send service.ÌýMost, but not all print journals that are held at Neurology (Queen Square Library) are stored in our main library space and can be consulted on demand by any registeredÌýlibrary member. However, for some older print journals you will need to requset access in advance. Look out for the locationÌýNeurology store andÌýplease contact the libraryÌýin advance for those items so that we can get the item(s) ready for you (note: if Explore shows the location as simply Stores, this is kept in remote storage outside London andÌýyou will need to request the item via the ).

E-journals

Your affiliation affects which e-journals are available to you because most require your organisation to pay a subscription for you to have access, though some items are freely available as Open Access content.ÌýÌý

E-journal access is purchased separately by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº (for university staff & students)Ìýand by the NHS (for NHS staff) and information about how to log in to each collection can be found at ourÌýlogging into e-resources page.

  • .Most ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº e-journals can be accessed without a password if you are workingÌýwithin the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº network, including Explore Access Points (EAPs). However, please noteÌýthat some e-journals require you to log in with ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº credentials, even when working on-site. When working outsideÌýthe ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº network, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº credentials are required to log in and so these e-journals are only available remotely to current ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff and students.
  • E-journals for ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH users.ÌýNHS users from ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH can access ejournals in the following ways:
  • Ìý- this is yourÌýprimary sourceÌýof access and it works from anywhere. The A-Z list of NHS ejournals is provided byÌýa service called BrowZine, which can be accessed by clicking 'Browse Journals' in theÌýÌý- always remember toÌýlog in with yourÌýOpenAthens account. The NHS ejournals are provided by Health Education England,Ìýthrough national and regional NHS agreements, plus some extra titles made available by your local home Library. Contact yourÌýÌýif you have any queries about access or need any assistance.
  • Ìý- this is yourÌýsecondary sourceÌýof access and is only available to those NHS usersÌýcurrently registered with the libraryÌý- please join before you visit the library using thisÌý. After registering as a library member, you can access the university collection byÌývisitingÌýa ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº library in person and using a walk-in computer (called an EAP - view theÌý). Registered library members may also request an occasional electronic copy of any journal articleÌýthat is available via the EAPs - please visit.

E-journals are protected by copyright laws similar to those for printed journals.ÌýYou are also subject to the licensed terms and conditions which vary from publisher to publisher. Activities such as bulk downloading and using content for commercial purposes are almost always prohibited.ÌýTerms and conditions for individual journals can usually be found on each e-journalÌýwebsite. Please contact the Library if you need further advice.

What if you cannot access the journal you need?

You can search for journals held by libraries outside ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº / ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºH via libraryÌýcatalogues. A list of other libraries can be found on our other libraries page. You can also obtain a copy of an article from a journal held by another library by placing an Inter Library Loans requestÌý(available only to registered library users). Please note that a charge may be payable for this service.Ìý
