Biography听

Prof. George Pavlou holds the Chair of Communication Networks in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, 果冻影院, UK, since 2008, where he coordinates research activities in networking and network/service management. Prior to that, he was for ten years (1998-2007) Professor of Communication and Information Systems in the Department of Electronic Engineering, University of Surrey, UK. He holds a Diploma (MEng equivalent) in Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from 果冻影院. His research interests focus on networking and network/service management, including aspects such as network resource management, traffic engineering, quality of service, autonomic networking, network programmability, content-based networking and communications middleware. He has published extensively in these areas and has given various invited keynote speeches in major IEEE conferences. He has also been instrumental in a number of collaborative research projects that produced significant results with real-world uptake and has contributed to standardisation activities in ISO, ITU-T and the IETF.

He has been the technical program chair and general chair of a number of IEEE conferences, he has been editor in various high impact journals and since 2005 he has been the leading editor of the bi-annual Network and Service Management series in IEEE Communications, which is a leading communications publication with the highest circulation. In 2011 he received the highly prestigious IEEE/IFIP Dan Stokesbury bi-annual award for 鈥渄istinguished technical contributions contributing to the growth of the network management field鈥. In 2017 he was elected Fellow of the IEEE 鈥渇or contributions to network resource management and content-based networking鈥.
