Biography听
Luis C. Vieira received his B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Brazil, in 1992, his M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering from Centro Federal de Educa莽茫o Tecnol贸gica do Paran谩, Brazil, in 2003, and his PhD degree in electronic engineering from the University of Kent, UK, in 2013. Since 1998 he has been at the Federal University of Technology 鈥 Paran谩 (UTFPR), Brazil, where he is a Professor in the Department of Electronics. Since February 2020, he is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, 果冻影院. From 2014 to 2017, Dr Vieira was an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Kent, UK.
From 1994 to 1998, Dr Vieira held engineer positions in two telecommunications companies in Brazil. Between 2008 and 2010 he contributed to the EU-funded project 鈥淔ibre-Optic Networks for Distributed Extendible Heterogeneous Radio Architectures and Service Provisioning (FUTON)鈥. In 2016, Dr Vieira led (at UTFPR) the project 鈥淩FID Moisture Sensor Network for Landslide Monitoring鈥, an international collaboration with the University of Kent funded by the Newton Research Collaboration Programme 鈥 Royal Academy of Engineering. He is a co-investigator of the project 鈥淗igh-rate Optical Wireless Communications using LEDs鈥, funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Brazil. 听听
His current research topics include optical-wireless converged access networks, radio over fibre systems, digital predistortion, WDM networks, visible light communication (VLC), OFDM and RFID systems.
