Nominations open for the first-ever Widening Participation CoP Awards

The Widening Participation Community of Practice (CoP) is holding the first awards ceremony to recognise the outstanding staff at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº who dedicate their time and energy to the Widening Participation (WP) practice area.

The celebration is scheduled to take place on Thursday 8 December 2022 with more details to come regarding the event in due course.

Nominations are currently open to all staff across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº to nominate themselves or an outstanding colleague working in the WP practice area

Awards will be given out in the following five categories:

Access Award
An individual, project or team that has worked towards improving WP access to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.
Ìý
Student Success Award
An individual, project or team that has worked towards improving the success of WP students studying at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.
Ìý
School & Communities Award
An individual, project or team that has worked towards building strong relationships or links for WP working with schools or the wider community at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.
Ìý
Progression & Careers Award
An individual, project or team that has worked towards improving progression and career outcomes for students at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.
Ìý
Above & Beyond Award
An individual who has shown outstanding dedication to improving widening participation outcomes at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº through their attitude, conduct and work both as part of their role and beyond.

The Widening Participation CoP is for staff working proactively to increase the number of students from underrepresented backgrounds studying at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº. It was first launchedÌý in February 2020 and has since been an active community bringing together staff working in the practice area across both central and local departments at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº. It is co-led by Senior Access Officer Lauren Gillett, Department Outreach Coordinator & Ogden Science Officer Mark FullerÌýand Access Manager Caroline Fionda Dedman.

Make a nomination

Nominations will be open until Friday 18 November 2022. All staff are free to nominate as many times as they would like and staff are also welcome to nominate themselves, a team or a project.
