Our Committments

  We are committed to integrating PPIE, from writing the bid, through research stages to dissemination of the findings in a ‘project life-course’ approach.
• We fully support that PPIE is about individuals actively contributing through discussion to decisions.
• We will work closely with our PPIE contributors using a co-production approach to ensure that they have an equal voice and that their contribution is fully included throughout the research.

We endeavour to: 

• Provide inclusive opportunities – flexibly accommodating PPIE volunteers availability, to reach people most relevant to our research needs. 
• Work together using co-production principles, valuing all contributions across project life-course, building and sustaining mutually respectful and productive relationships. 
• Offer support and learning that builds confidence and skills for public involvement in research; we will offer PPEI volunteers’ attendance of relevant courses and scientific conferences. 
• Use plain language in communications about involvement plans and activities, and dissemination. 
• Seek improvements by identifying and celebrating the positive impact of public involvement in our research. 
• Involve PPIE contributors in research management and governance, including ethics applications, decision making and leadership. 

We will demonstrate to our PPIE Board that the above EDI characterises have been considered and we will be held accountable to the Board as they work with research teams to ensure studied populations are as representative of the population the study is targeted.
