Two IHI Research Fellow Promotions

IHI is delighted to announce two new Research Fellow promotions.

Huge congratulations to our colleagues, and , on their recent promotions!

Rachel Burns IHI
Now a Grade 7 Research Fellow, Rachel undertakes research on healthcare access of socially excluded groups, such as migrants and people experiencing homelessness. She is the work package lead on the and the Right to Care programme evaluation project with the NGO Doctors of the World UK. She is also the co-lead of the module 鈥楨thnicity, Migration and Health鈥,听the chair of the DOTW UK Expert Consortium of Refugee and Migrant Health,听advocacy officer for Lancet Migration, and an involved member of IHI鈥檚 Athena Swan.

The panel returned excellent feedback on her application which included 鈥渆xamples of presenting research at a national and international level; co-investigator/work package lead on three significant grants; a small number of publications including some as first author鈥 and evidence of institutional citizenship such as being a member of Athena SWAN committee.鈥

Rachel: Thank you so much for your support through this process and for all of the opportunities working at IHI has given me!

, Professor of Public Health Data Science: As the panel commented, Rachel clearly deserved this promotion, and she is a massive asset to IHI and the university. We are lucky to have her!

Louise Mc Grath Lone IHI
Louise has now been promoted to Grade 8 Senior Research Fellow. She is a member of the ECHILD project team. Her research focuses on using administrative data to explore public health issues, particularly inequalities experienced by disadvantaged groups of children, such as those who are care experienced. As a former secondary teacher, she is also interested in the interconnections between young people鈥檚 health and educational outcomes.听Louise joined IHI in 2020 and contributes to teaching on MSc modules at IHI and GOS ICH. She is a member of 果冻影院鈥檚 cross-faculty Health of the Public Early Careers Network committee.

Her fantastic application had 鈥渆ight first author publications and 15 peer-reviewed publications with 288 citations鈥. She also has 鈥渁 funding bid in progress for a fellowship and听is leading a consortium of researchers to bid for 拢1.4 million from the Department of Education... [and has] a 果冻影院 Policy Engagement and Impact Fellowship.鈥
