Event: Global Opportunities for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's Early Careers Staff

New event will offer ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº early career researchers advice about global funding opportunities and writing for international journal publications
This term will see the first event take place at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s Institute of Education (IOE) on 4 June, from 12:30-19:00.
The half-day event will provide early careers staff from across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº with the chance to find out about ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's wide-ranging funding opportunities, along with practical advice such as how to write for international journal publications.
All early careers staff across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº are welcome.
Funding and training opportunities
Kicking off with a buffet lunch, the event will see Professor David Bogle, Pro-Vice-Provost for Research, and Richard Laughlin, Head of Organisational Development, share details of the new opportunities and training programmes ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is putting together for early careers staff.
Co-organiser Professor Gudrun Moore, Pro-Vice-Provost International, will then share information about ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s Global Engagement Funds, the funding awarded annually by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s Global Engagement Office in support of overseas collaboration.
Gudrun will introduce four successful post-doctoral applicants, who will share how they went about securing the funds, along with details of the European research they supported.
International publication advice
Following refreshments, Professor David Price, Vice-Provost (Research), will share take-home advice for securing publication in international papers. The session will also include tips from high-ranking journal editors on what exactly they’re looking for from international publication submissions.
The event will close with a lively networking session, drinks and a canapé reception, providing attendees with plenty of opportunity to get talking to their peers and predecessors from across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.
