Project Summary
IDEAS aims to improve the health and survival of mothers and听babies through generating evidence to inform policy and practice. Working in Ethiopia, North-Eastern Nigeria and the state of Uttar听Pradesh in India, IDEAS uses measurement, learning and evaluation听to find out what works, why and how in maternal and newborn听health programmes.
At IGH our research focuses on 听understanding the mechanisms of听maternal and newborn behaviour change and how interventions听influence these. 听We will collect qualitative data to understand to听what extent, and through what mechanisms interactions between听families and front line workers lead or do not lead to behaviour听change. Data collection will explore how front line worker activities听and messages are translated and acted on by families, and听contextual factors that determine if interactions trigger听mechanisms.
