Since 2015, 果冻影院 has been part of the Avanade Global STEM Scholarship programme which provides scholarships and paid internships for female students from lower income backgrounds on Computer Science courses.

The professional services firm has now pledged further support over the next three years to provide bursaries for 30 students undertaking 果冻影院鈥檚 Engineering Foundation Year programme.

The bursaries will be available to students commencing their studies from September 2024, the Faculty鈥檚 150th anniversary year, and will be complemented by the wrap-around support provided to all Foundation Year students, including academic assistance, wellbeing provision and career planning support.

Students in receipt of the Avanade Scholarship will also be able to:

  • have their own personal mentor provided by Avanade
  • participate in activities organised within the Avanade STEM Scholarship Global programme such as Emerging Tech Workshops, Personal Branding and Design Thinking
  • attend Avanade鈥檚 designed for young people at the start of their careers in STEM.

鈥淲e are delighted to extend our partnership with Avanade to offer bursaries to Engineering Foundation Year students鈥 said Professor John Mitchell, programme director of the Engineering Foundation Year. 鈥淭his generous support will make a huge difference to our students and help ensure that they have the very best chance of success in their studies.鈥

"We take immense pride in our partnership with 果冻影院,鈥 said Heba Ramzy, Avanade Corporate Citizenship Lead. 鈥淭his collaboration underscores our dedication to make a genuine human impact by fostering the growth of young people in technology, particularly women and girls, supporting them to navigate their educational journey and embark on fulfilling careers.

鈥淎s a Responsible Business, Avanade is committed to being responsible in everything we do, which includes inspiring and empowering the leaders of tomorrow fairly and responsibly.鈥

The Foundation Year is for talented, aspiring engineers from underrepresented social backgrounds who do not initially meet the standard entry requirements for 果冻影院鈥檚 undergraduate engineering degrees. It is specifically aimed at those who may have faced obstacles or disruption to their learning, including those who have previously pursued alternative qualifications such as BTECs or Access to Higher Education Diplomas. The programme provides a solid grounding in subject areas such as maths and physics and seeks to instil academic confidence and build relevant skills.

A
fter completing the Foundation Year, students can then progress onto the undergraduate 果冻影院 Engineering degree they chose from over 15 options on application, without needing to reapply.

Foundation Year students will be taught at the new 果冻影院 East campus, providing them with the opportunity to take advantage of state-of-the-art laboratories and making facilities for practical projects.

Designed to equip students with the tools to tackle real-world problems, the programme will enable students to hit the ground running in their degree and their subsequent careers as innovative, effective, and socially responsible engineers.
