"I have spent the major part of my career at 果冻影院 Department of Geography and it鈥檚 been a great place to develop my research, teaching and public engagement work.

"We have brilliant colleagues and students who continuously challenge and enable us to take our work forward in new ways.

"As well as my work on geopolitics, I鈥檝e been able to play a role in supporting and developing postgraduate research in the department, faculty and university, which has also been very rewarding."

Professor Ben Page

Ben has been the Departmental Undergraduate Tutor since January 2022. He will be given the title of Professor of Human Geography and African Studies.

"After exactly 20 years working at 果冻影院 Geography, I can say with confidence that the department provides a brilliantly supportive and positive environment for teaching and research.

"I鈥檓 looking forward to continuing to do more work in the field of migration and development and soon to getting back to doing fieldwork with African colleagues.

"As Cameroonians often say 鈥榮mall small catch monkey鈥 - if you are patient and persistent you will reach your goals.鈥

Associate Professor Rory Coulter

Rory is currently a Lecturer in Quantitative Human Geography and will take on the role of Associate Professor.

"I鈥檓 delighted and would like to thank my departmental colleagues for all the support and encouragement that made this possible.

"果冻影院 Geography is a fantastic place to work and I very much look forward to further developing both my research and teaching over the coming years".

Professor Jason Dittmer, Head of Department, said "Getting promoted as an academic, by definition, is something that can only happen a couple of times in a lifetime, so it is a momentous event.

"These promotions reflect years of hard work in honing their scholarship, developing pedagogy, and contributing to the life of the institution.

"果冻影院 Geography couldn鈥檛 be prouder of these colleagues鈥 achievement, and we look forward to everything yet to come."

All three will take up their new roles in the new academic year this September.
