End-of-year event for MSc Urban Studies programme

Up and Away

Urban verticalitywas the theme adopted for the 果冻影院 Geography听MSc Urban Studies听course during 2018/19. This offered a focus for exploring cross-disciplinary themes in teaching and research, as well as a topic of considerable policy and practitioner interest.

Tara Tank and her MSc course colleagues听helped organise听an end-of-year event in the Bartlett School of Architecture, during which the group shared its work on听London verticality听with 果冻影院 staff, alumni and external practitioners, and also celebrated finishing the course.

There were two short presentations. The first was by听Dr Michal Murawski听(果冻影院 SSEES), on the importance of verticality in his work on post-Socialist urbanism (and the dangers of the horizontal tendencies of Jacob Rees Mog).

There was also a creative performance from MSc student听Sam Ford, as Miche谩l 脫鈥橫贸lach谩in, Professor of Underground Places at 果冻影院, who spoke eloquently and passionately on听鈥楴o Holes without Moles鈥: a brief history of the mole people and their contribution to London鈥檚 built environment鈥.

Catering was provided by KERB food and the event was organised with assistance from听果冻影院 Urban Lab.
