In November, at the 16th Association for Computer Machinery (ACM)聽Conference on Embedded Networked Sensor Systems, held in Shenzen, China,聽Dr Mirco Musolesi聽received the聽SenSys 2018 Test-of-Time Award聽for his co-authored 2008 paper,聽鈥淪ensing meets mobile social networks: the design, implementation and evaluation of the Cenceme application鈥�.

He received the award,聽"for the paper鈥檚 contribution in foreseeing that smartphones are human companions and their sensors, collectively, can be used to derive聽novel聽social behaviour insights. The paper also pioneered applying machine learning across local devices and servers.鈥�.

The 鈥楾est of Time鈥� Award recognises papers that are at least 10 years old that have had a long-lasting impact on networked embedded sensing system science and engineering.
