International reputation in urban and feminist geography
Dr Ayona Datta has been appointed as a Professor of Human Geography at聽果冻影院Geography.
Dr Datta, who is currently Reader in Urban Futures at King鈥檚 College London, has an international reputation in urban and feminist geography. Her research encompasses postcolonial urbanism, smart cities, urban futures, and gender citizenship.
She is the author of聽The Illegal City: Space, law and gender in a Delhi squatter settlement聽(2012), and co-editor of聽Translocal geographies: Spaces, places, connections聽(2011) and聽Mega-urbanization in the global South: Fast cities and new urban utopias of the postcolonial state听(2017).
Ayona is a publicly engaged scholar and maintains a personal blog, '. This summer, she was also awarded the聽Busk Medal聽of the for her contributions to the understanding of smart cities through fieldwork.
Before her academic career, she practised as an architect in Delhi and London.
