10 years of Mapping for Change

November 24th聽marked 10 years since Louise Francs, Chris Church and Muki Haklay聽.

Originally based on a research project at 果冻影院, this is now well established as a social enterprise, with its work cited in the聽聽and the Guardian. Projects have also been developed in many places far from their London origins, including聽,聽Katowice, Valletta, and Kampala.

Mapping for Change聽came out of聽Mapping Change for Sustainable Communities (.pdf)聽supported by the聽Higher Education Innovation Fund. Dr聽Claire Ellul聽(Now Lecturer in GIS, 果冻影院 Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering) developed聽聽during and after her postdoctoral research.

When the 鈥淢apping Change鈥︹ project was about to end in December 2008, it was decided to continue utilising the platform and engaging its methodologies through a new organisation:聽Mapping for Change.
