Bin is a Research Data Scientist at CDRC, working in the Geospatial Analytics and Computing group within the Department of Geography. Bin’s research focuses on enriching and enhancing administrative datasets and other academically available datasets to better understand and address housing challenges at local scales and inform local housing and planning policies in Great Britain.

Before joining CDRC, she was a research associate in the Urban Big Data Centre (UBDC) on the Housing and Neighbourhoods research team. She worked with Prof Nick Bailey and Dr Mark Livingston along with colleagues in ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº on the three projects below:

  • OS data linkage project (second phase): examine the current state and evolution of energy performance in the residential Building Stock in England and Wales
  • Research on the impact of the Scotland Private Housing (Tenancies) Act 2016 with Zoopla data in GB

She did her PhD at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº the Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis. She worked with Professor Adam Dennett, Dr Thomas Oléron-Evans and Professor Robin Morphet. Her PhD research focused on exploring spatial-temporal patterns of housing price and housing affordability in England. Bin passed her PhD without corrections in November 2021.

At the end of her PhD research, she started to work as a part-time Research Data Scientist/ Data Engineer in the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Department of Geography. Bin worked withÌýDr Rory CoulterÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýProfessor Paul LongleyÌýon theÌýESRC SDAI project (Modelling Housing Career Trajectories in Great Britain) (.pdf).
