HARDY ANIMAL

Laura Dannequin
Hardy Animal (a lecture performance)' is an intimate and raw account of living with idiopathic chronic pain. The full stage version has toured in both arts and medical contexts (The Place, Forest Fringe, BAC, Association for Medical Humanities Annual Conference 2015, Aerowaves 2016...) and is presented here for the first time as a smaller scale work to suit the conference context. An accompanying limited edition fine-print bookwork was created as part of this project and will be available at the Conference or directly from Laura's website:听

PAIN UNDER THE MICROSCOPE

Deborah Padfield and Helen Omand
Pain under the microscope is an artists film which takes the metaphor of a series of linked microscopes as its blue-print.听 It uses footage from interviews with a range of experts (patients, clinicians and researchers) to explore pain through different lenses. 听Images created through putting the materials of patients' visual metaphors under the microscope will thread their way throughout the film alongside actual neuronal images.听The film asks what is this thing called pain?听 It provides no answers but weaves together听material viewers can use to assemble their own understanding.
