PhD student Mingyang Chen winning award

PhD student, Mingyang Chen has been awarded an Outstanding Student Paper Award at which took place at the end of last month in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

This prestigious event, organised by the IEEE Control Systems Society, is a key forum for advancements in control technology, bringing together academics, industry professionals, and researchers. It鈥檚 an excellent opportunity for students and professionals in the field to share their work, learn about cutting-edge technologies and network with experts.

The President of the IEEE Control Systems Society Prof Magnus Egerstedt, PhD student Mingyang Chen, PhD student from ETH Zurich Fabian Fl眉renbrock and Prof Toru Namerikawa.

Mingyang鈥檚 paper, 鈥A Game-Based Optimal and Safe Lane Change Control of Autonomous Vehicles in Mixed Traffic Scenario鈥, proposes a game-theoretic trajectory planning scheme for automated lane changing of a connected autonomous vehicle (CAV) in response to the movement of a human-driven vehicle (HDV) in the target lane.聽Mingyang鈥檚 research could be applied to the evolution of intelligent transportation systems in the future.

I'm very honoured to be selected for this award, which recognises our contribution to control application. Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to my supervisor Boli聽Chen聽for his guidance. Secondly, I聽would like to thank the EEE department for providing us with a valuable platform. Finally, I will be diligent and sincere, continue to forge ahead on the academic path and maintain high-quality development.鈥
