Camille Tardieu

Camille Tardieu is an Action on Hearing Loss PhD student at the 果冻影院 Ear Institute

Passionate about sensory neuroscience and mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, I embarked on a PhD titled 鈥淓stablishing a Drosophila model for noise-induced hearing loss鈥 in the Albert lab at the Ear Institute in September 2014. Since then, I have aimed to identify, and characterise, signatures of homeostasis in the fly鈥檚 ear, the Johnston鈥檚 organ. I am more specifically interested in how sensitive mechanotransduction is maintained in health and challenged by trauma and ageing. I use an array of tools 鈥 from molecular biology to electrophysiology 鈥 to assess the auditory system鈥檚 function and integrity, hoping to characterise the key molecular events underlying noise-induced hearing loss.
