Explore our world-famous Egyptology collection after hours! With children’s colouring activities and friendly guides on hand to answer your questions, join us on a 350,000-year journey through the story of ancient Egypt.

The Petrie Museum houses an estimated 80,000 objects, making it one of the greatest collections of Egyptian and Sudanese archaeology in the world. Focusing on 'objects of daily use', the unique and personal items used by ancient peoples, we explore life in the Nile Valley from prehistory through the time of the pharaohs, the Ptolemaic, Roman, and Coptic periods to the Islamic Age.

In 1998 our collection was designated "of outstanding importance" by the UK Government and the museum contains several world-firsts including:

  • The world’s oldest example of a woven garment.
  • The worlds oldest example of worked iron.
  • The world’s oldest example of a Will on paper.

Join us after hours for an evening exploring Ancient Egypt and Sudan. Get up close and personal with the intimate objects used by people in the past and learn how the collection came to be housed at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº. From stone tools to sarcophagi, amulets to armour and even Tutankhamun, a visit to the Petrie Museum is a must for anyone with an interest in Egyptology and the past.

Our expert museum guides will be on hand to answer your questions and there will be colouring activities available for children of all ages.
