Join us for a family-friendly tour of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Bloomsbury campus exploring the fossils and interesting rocks hidden within the very centre of London and the stories they contain. With the Grant Museum of Zoology currently closed, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Museums are bringing our family events outside the museum, around the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Bloomsbury campus. This autumn 2023 we are hosting a short series of workshops all about fossils, kicking off with a fossil hunt tour.

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and the adjacent University of London buildings are constructed from typical London building materials such as Portland Stone and Cornish Granite. Unassuming materials to the untrained eye, geologist Dr. Ruth Siddall will reveal the fossils visible in Portland Stone, and crystals found in granites (and more!) on her fossil and rock hunting tour of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº. Come along on a 1.5 hour adventure around ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and discover London's natural history...

Audience

This is a family-friendly tour, recommended for ages 8+. Individuals are also welcome, please note the tour will cater to a large age range.

Finding us

We are located in Bloomsbury, in the heart of central London. The nearest tube stations are Euston Square (Metropolitan, Circle, Hammersmith & City), Goodge Street (Northern Line), Warren Street (Victoria Line), and buses 18, 30, 73, 134 and 205 stop 3-5 minutea away on Euston Road.

Can we bring lunch with us?

There are plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants within 10 minutes walk of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, and if you intend on bringing your own lunch for the day, our staff will be able to point you in the direction of the best place to eat inside (or outside) on campus.
