Job Opportunity: Lecturer in Nature-Inspired Chemical Engineering

27 September 2018

果冻影院 Department of Chemical Engineering is one of the top research and teaching departments in the UK and has world-class standing

Job Opportunity: Lecturer in Nature-Inspired Chemical Engineering

The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and has an extensive research portfolio across a wealth of areas, from the molecular scale to complex systems. Over the past few years, the department has been undergoing rapid growth and is the home of the EPSRC 鈥淔rontier Engineering鈥澨(CNIE), the听听and several consortia supported by the European Commission.听

This Lectureship relates in particular to the unique, systematic nature-inspired chemical engineering (NICE) approach that has been developed at 果冻影院, and is the nucleus of the Centre for Nature Inspired Engineering (CNIE). The NICE approach takes fundamental mechanistic principles underpinning desired properties in natural systems (like scalability, efficiency and resilience) and adopts these with proper adaptations to inform innovative and transformative solutions to challenging (chemical) engineering problems, related to scalable and sustainable manufacturing, energy, environment, functional materials and healthcare.听听

To teach at undergraduate and graduate level in areas allocated by the Head of Department and reviewed from time to time by the Head of Department. The successful candidate will be expected to complement research and education in the Department and the CNIE, as well as to establish and lead a vigorous externally funded research programme of international standing, related to nature-inspired chemical engineering. The candidate鈥檚 research should use innovative approaches that will lead to high-quality published outputs and attract healthy funding income from prestigious awarding bodies.
