Prof Mike Hanna and his team spent a week in India in October to launch the three partner sites in our new ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº-led MRC International Centre for Genomic Medicine -  the centre at CCMB Hyderabad was launched on 3^rd October.

On 4^th October Prof Mike Hanna was honoured to deliver the inaugural JS Chopra Oration at the 2019 Indian Academy of Neurology Conference (IANCON) in Hyderabad, ‘From understanding molecular mechanisms to delivering treatments in neuromuscular diseases’, introduced by Professor MV Padma, from AIIMS, New Delhi. His lecture highlighted the importance of our Indian partners in the new international centre (ICGNMD).

The second MRC partner centre for Genomic Medicine in Neuromuscular Diseases in India, NIMHANS, in Bangalore was launched on 6^th October.  This visit to India’s largest clinical-research neurological centre provided a fantastic opportunity to come together to review patient cases and finalise plans for our MRC ICGNMD partnership, and meet our new fellows at the centre.

A great day was spent analysing cases at AIIMS New Delhi on the last day of the trip on 9th October. Thanks to all the teams in CCMB Hyderabad, NIMHANS Bangalore and AIIMS New Delhi - a formidable network serving 1.4 billion people, through which there is huge potential to advance genomics and develop therapies.
