Employer Engagement Policy

It is ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Careers’ policy to allow any graduate employer to attend careers events, provided they are offering legally compliant opportunities, that would not bring ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº into disrepute.

This impartial stance puts emphasis on students’ freedom of choice in where they decide to work. ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is an incredibly diverse community, and with nearly 50,000 students across 440 UG and 650 PG programmes. Our graduates go on to work in a huge range of industries and companies. As a Careers team, we aim to support you by providing impartial career guidance and resources, and building relationships with recruiters in the UK and around the world who wish to target ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº students and graduates. Our role is to provide careers education and support, and to respect individual students’ own career aspirations. As members of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) we abide by their  as well as their expanded position on .

We urge students to make their own well-informed decisions about identifying career paths that align with their values, skills, and interests. Our resources, appointments, and event programmes can help students to reflect on embedding values in the context of their career planning, and we are currently working on promoting greater visibility of employers’ values on our jobs board.

Student Right to Protest

We respect students’ right to protest and allow them to do so as long as it is within reasonable levels of disruption to others, and not preventing other students from accessing the information or networking opportunity provided by the event. We do however need to balance this with staff and students’ wellbeing, and may seek advice from central ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº safety and compliance teams ahead of events as appropriate. The safety and security of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff and students is our priority and we reserve the right to access on-campus events with a view to ensuring the above.
