Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will lead development of indicator(s) relating to country-level transition risks and opportunities, building upon the World Bank indicator of Transition Risks - Preparedness of Countries for a Low-Carbon Transition, to generate and apply an ongoing indicator for use in financial sector and more widely about country exposure and preparedness for transition risks. This may include integration of such an indicator with the Lancet Countdown on Climate and Health, including applications for renewal grant and exploring additional funding routes for longer-term developments engaging private sector investment risk appraisals. The candidate is expected to work closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr Nadia Ameli and Prof. Michael Grubb and the other Research Fellows and the PhD students of the team. Key Requirements

The post holder would be expected to have familiarity with (a) international finance issues including considerations of country risk and multilateral development bank operations, and (b) some knowledge of economic dimensions of energy systems and technologies, specifically including approaches to assessing dynamics of low carbon transitions, with ideally a PhD degree or equivalent experience in relation to relevant fields (e.g. Economics, Statistics, Finance, Energy studies). Skills would include some programming skills, along with good communication, networking and writing skills.
