About the speakers

Shoshana Zuboff

Shoshana Zuboff has been called 鈥渢he true prophet of the information age鈥 by the Financial Times. She is the Charles Edward Wilson Professor Emerita at Harvard Business School and Faculty Associate at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School.

In addition to听The Age of Surveillance Capitalism, she has also written another two books, each of which signalled the start of a new epoch in technological society. In the late 1980s,听In the Age of the Smart Machine听foresaw how computers would revolutionise the modern workplace. At the dawn of the twenty-first century,听The Support Economy听predicted the rise of a digitally mediated 鈥榙istributed capitalism鈥 of services tailored to the individual.

Carole Cadwalladr is an award-winning author and听investigative journalist for The Observer. Recently,听Carole was featured in the documentary 'The Great Hack' which explores the Cambridge Analytica scandal and issues of surveillance capitalism.听

Paul Hilder is co-founder of Crowdpac, 38 Degrees and openDemocracy. He has played leadership roles at Change.org, Avaaz and Oxfam. Recently, Paul was featured in the documentary 'The Great Hack' which explores Cambridge Analytica scandal and issues of surveillance capitalism.听
