A mission oriented industrial strategy: ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº-IIPP Commission meets with Greg Clark

The ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Commission for Mission Oriented Innovation and Industrial Strategy (MOIIS) held its first meeting yesterday to work on directing the UK Industrial Strategy towards missions.
The first meeting of the new ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº-IIPP Commission was attended by , Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and was held inÌýthe in Westminster.
The new Commission, co-chaired by IIPP Director Mariana Mazzucato and ,Ìýwill use mission-oriented thinking to transform the GrandÌýChallenges outlined in the Ìýinto tangible 'missions'.
The Grand Challenges (AI, mobility, ageing & clean growth) are a keyÌýpart of the Ìýpublished by BEIS, which references the first IIPP Working PaperÌýMission-Oriented Innovation Policy: Challenges and OpportunitiesÌýon ways to tackle the Grand Challenges.
IIPP'sÌýmission-oriented approach to innovationÌýcan be seen in our researchÌýon mission-oriented innovation policyÌýand its influence is evident in our collaborations with the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and the RSA. IIPP'sÌýMission Oriented Innovation Network (MOIN),Ìýwhich will lead global policy-making institutions in creatingÌýa new policy making framework, will launch on Monday 12th March.
A framework for how to transform grand challenges into missions was outlined byÌýMariana MazzucatoÌýin the recently published report for the European CommissionÌý.
The Commission is a collaboration between key ¹û¶³Ó°ÔºÌýacademics andÌýindustry expertsÌýfrom cross-disciplinaryÌýinstitutions.
