The aim of the scheme is to advance the practice and culture of public and community engagement within ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº by enabling ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff and postgraduate students to:

• Explore mutually beneficial engagement between communities and ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº research and teaching.
• Be innovative in their engagement.
• Evaluate, learn from and share their engagement activities.

The Beacon Bursary funding scheme supports ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s Public Engagement Strategy which aims to embed public engagement as a normal, valued activity for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff and students

Eight projects were funded in this round, including BSP Research Fellow, Valentina Giordano’s project ‘Place Alliance: Child-centred Urban Planning’. Students from Bobby Moore Academy, near ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº East, will be involved through an assembly, co-design workshops and the chance to share their work through public exhibitions.
