Dr Priti Parikh named in the 2022 Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50) Award

BSSC Associate Professor Dr Priti Parikh, recognised in the聽Top 50 Women in Engineering WE50 Awards list 2022.

Dr Priti Parikh,聽BSSC Associate Professor and Director of Engineering for International Development Research Centre, has been recognised in the聽, organised by the Women's Engineering Society (WES).聽

Priti was named to the list for her work聽on infrastructure projects in Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and the UK聽with local governments and slum communities; founding and leading 果冻影院's聽Engineering for International Development Research Centre;聽and聽her聽research portfolio, which focuses on water, sanitation, energy infrastructure, and its impact on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and climate change.

Discussing the award,聽Dr Priti Parikh said: 鈥淚 am honoured to be recognised as one of the top 50 Women in Engineering 鈥 Inventors and Innovators. With global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and urbanisation it is time for us to work across disciplines and sectors to develop innovative solutions for infrastructure.

"I am grateful to my team, colleagues and mentors who have supported me and inspired me through my journey. Thanks to the Women鈥檚 Engineering Society for creating these awards to celebrate women in engineering.鈥澛

Previously, Dr Parikh won the Provost Education Award in 2018, and the Sustainability Research Award in 2021 for her contribution to engineering and international development. She is an ICE Council Member and was invited to join the board of Trustees for Happold Foundation and Engineer's Against Poverty. In 2019, she was recognised as an Engineers Without Borders Changemaker.

The Top 50 awards聽celebrate聽the diverse range of skills and talent displayed by female engineers who now make 16.5% of all engineers in the UK.
