The Bartlett celebrates three winners at the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Provost’s Public Engagement Awards

A Bartlett researcher, PhD student and affiliated researcher from the Geography Department have all been recognised in the awards celebrating the best of public engagement at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.

We are delighted to announce that this year, three out of the seven Provost’s Public Engagement Awards have a connection to The Bartlett.

The Awards recognise the contributions of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff, students and their community partners in making the university’s research and teaching accessible to both the local community and the wider world. They are organised by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Culture's Public Engagement Unit.

Award-winners


Early Career Researcher Award – Dr Andrea Rigon (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Development Planning Unit)

Andrea, a lecturer on our Social Development Practice MSc, has been recognised for his work with the Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre.


Student Award: Nicola Antaki (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Development Planning Unit / Bartlett School of Architecture)

Nicola, a joint DPU-BSA PhD student, has been recognised for her doctoral work with communities and children in Mumbai. A practicing architect, Antaki has developed a new teaching method that enables children to redesign their environment.


Established Award: Dr Elena-Fiddian-Qasmiyeh (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Migration Unit)

Elena was recognised for her outstanding commitment to promoting social justice for refugees. Co-director of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's Migration Research Unit (based at the Geography Deparment), Elena is also Head of Public Engagement for RELIEF!, a transdiscplinary research collaboration led by the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Institute for Global Prosperity at The Bartlett.Â
