¹û¶³Ó°Ôº ISH PhD student Eirini Gallou has been awarded a ‘Train and Engage’ public engagement bursary.

South Ronaldsay

Train and Engage is the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Culture funding stream for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº postgraduate research students. The bursary offers evaluation ofÌýthe grant holders project,Ìýtraining opportunities and resources to develop advice,Ìýdesign and delivery skills.

Eirini’s research looks at local community perceptions of cultural heritage and the impact participation in cultural heritage activities has on sustaining heritage management in rural and remote contexts.

The funding will be used to organise a day event which aims to engage Eirini’s work with local community members (specifically difficult-to-reach young families) in South Ronaldsay, Scotland, where her research is based.


About Eirini

During the academic year 2016-17 Eirini worked as a PGTA at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº ISH. She has recently been awarded the Associate Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and has successfully completed both Arena One for PGTA’s and the Teaching Associate Programme offered by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s teaching and learning Unit. Eirini supported her application through teaching and supporting student learning within ISH.
