The ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Energy Institute has an exciting opportunity for an experienced operations manager to join the which carries out world-class inter-disciplinary research into sustainable future energy systems. It is the focal point of UK energy research and the gateway between the UK and the international energy research communities. The research programme reflects and informs UK policy development and research strategy.

The Operations Manager has a central role within UKERC and is responsible for the planning and provision of key services necessary for the successful delivery of the research programme and maximising UKERC’s impact on UK and global energy policy development and energy systems thinking.

Leading a team of four, the Operations Manager will work with the Centre Director on strategic development and planning, will manage the Centre’s £18m budget, and will project manage the UKERC research programme.

This is a fixed-term appointment until Christmas 2020 covering a maternity leave.

Key Requirements

Our ideal candidate will be educated to degree level with previous experience in the management of large research grants. They will have proven leadership skills and a record of successful line management. They must be efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail. They will have knowledge of how to operate effectively within networks to build partnerships and an excellent understanding of Research Councils and UK/international funding agencies.

This is a busy role in a fast-paced environment, and the post holder is expected to be adaptable, proactive and quickly assimilate information. The role requires interaction with many people within and external to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, thus a professional attitude and ability to remain tactful and assertive are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined.Ìý
