¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Energy Institute celebrates 2020 staff promotions

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº has announced the senior academic, research and teaching fellow promotions for 2019–20.

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Energy Institute wishes to congratulate Paul Dodds, Catalina Spataru, Lynnette Dray and Lorenzo Lotti on receiving senior academic, research and teaching fellow promotions, effective 1 October 2020.

The four members of staff have been recognised for their accomplishmentsÌýin energy policy, research and teaching within the Institute.

Prof Neil Strachan, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Energy Institute Director, has commented on each of the promotions.

Dr Paul Dodds has been promoted to Professor:

“As well as building up a highly impressive portfolio of research projects, Paul has spearheaded the policy application use of the UK TIMES energy systems model, fully embedding this high profile tool into the UK government (BEIS) as well as working with other key policy and industrial stakeholders (Scottish Government, CCC, National Grid, International Energy Agency etc).Ìý

Dr Catalina Spataru has been promoted to Professor:

Catalina has built up the Islands Laboratory into a hugely exciting initiative with global reach. Working on the specific challenges (and opportunities) for Islands to transition to decarbonised energy systems and more broadly a more circular economy. She will beÌýthe first female professor atÌý¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Energy Institute, serving as a role model to many of our staff.

Dr Lynnette Dray has been promoted to Principal Research Fellow:

This recognises Lynette's internationally ground-breaking research on aviation modelling (including the open-source AIM2015 model), which directly tackles interdisciplinary issues in the aviation sector, notoriously one of the most difficult sectors to decarbonise.Ìý

Dr Lorenzo Lotti has been promoted to Principal Teaching Fellow:

Lorenzo has led ourÌýEconomics and Policy of Energy and the Environment MSc to be a spectacularly successful Masters programme that continues to grow - this promotion illustrates how ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº recognises and values leadership in our teaching programmes.
