The Bartlett awarded £2.25 million for project on Climate Resilience in East Africa

Dr Jordana Ramalho and Dr Pascale Hofmann from The Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU) alongside Prof. Priti Parikh and Dr Margarita Garfias Royo from The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction (BSSC) have been awarded £2.25 million by UKRI.

NBS project

The award under  funding call isÌýgranted for theÌýproject entitled ‘Listen, Learn & Leap: Co-producing Equitable and Sustainable Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for Climate Resilience in East African Cities’.Ìý

The project is a three-year action research collaboration between DPU,ÌýBSSC, KounkueyÌýDesign InitiativeÌý(KDI)Ìýin Kenya, Ardhi UniversityÌýand the Centre for Community InitiativesÌý(CCI)Ìýin Tanzania, and ICLEI Africa. Ìý

The research project will exploreÌýtheÌýsocio-politicalÌýfactors that support the uptake, sustainability, and institutionalisationÌýof NbS in Nairobi and Dar es SalaamÌýwith a particular focus on centring the perspectives and interests of young people, and especially adolescent women and girls inÌýinformal settlements, in the design and management of localised NbS.
