BSSC鈥檚 Professor Dabo Guan elected as an AGU Fellow

The Bartlett School of Sustainable Constructions鈥檚 Professor Guan has recently been elected as an American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fellow.

was elected as an AGU Fellow, joining a distinguished group of 54 individuals in the 2024 Class of Fellows. is the world's largest Earth and space science association and bestows this honour annually to a select number of individuals who have made exceptional contributions. Since its inception in 1962, less than 0.1% of AGU members have been selected as Fellows each year.聽

AGU Fellows are recognized for their scientific eminence, demonstrated through breakthroughs, discoveries or innovations that advance the Earth and space sciences. Fellows act as external experts, advising government agencies and other organizations outside the sciences upon request. Professor Dabo Guan was selected for his exemplary leadership and outstanding scientific achievements, which have significantly advanced the union鈥檚 understanding of climate change economics and low-carbon transition.聽

Professor Guan holds the Chair position (part-time) of Climate Change and Low Carbon Transition at 果冻影院 (果冻影院).聽He is a聽Fellow at and a Fellow at the聽. He specialises in emission accounting for international climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, scenario analysis on environmental impacts, water resources accounting and management, input-output modelling and their applications in both developed and developing countries.聽

Professor Guan said:

鈥淚 am fortunate to receive this nomination, and I am thankful to everyone, especially so many young and talent PhD students and postdocs in my team. I will continue to advocate for multidisciplinary research in the field of climate change and explore practically feasible pathways for emission mitigations in developing countries.鈥澛

Honorees will be recognized at , which will convene more than 25,000 attendees from over 100 countries in Washington, D.C. and online everywhere on from 9-13聽December 2024. Reflecting the theme 'What's Next for Science' at AGU24, the Honors Reception will recognize groundbreaking achievements that illustrate science's continual advancement, inspiring the AGU community with their stories and successes.
