Omar Abbas, PhD student at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction and co-founder of OSpen, has been honoured with the Best Overall Pitch Award by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Innovation & Enterprise’s SPERO Build programme. This prestigious accolade, which comes with a £3,000 prize, acknowledges Omar's outstanding pitch for OSpen's innovative dental syringe, developed by fellow co-founder Omar Salama.

The award-winning dental syringe, spearheaded by Salama, addresses the prevalent issue of needlestick injuries in healthcare settings. This patented device features enhanced safety measures, an ergonomic pen grip, and a hidden needle, offering significant benefits to medical professionals and addressing cost concerns for healthcare institutions.

Abbas's exceptional pitching skills played a crucial role in securing this top award, convincing the panel of OSpen's startup potential. With the award, Abbas is set to focus on strategic planning and market analysis to drive commercialisation efforts and attract further funding for OSpen.

This achievement is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the entire OSpen team, including the invaluable support from ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Innovation & Enterprise’s coaches and advisors. Congratulations to Omar Abbas and Omar Salama on this significant milestone.
