Biography
Wenlan completed a MSc in the Environmental Technology from the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London in 2020. She graduated from the Shandong University in 2019 with a major in Marine Resources Development Technology. Prior to joining CASA, she has worked for UNDP, UNIDO and NGOs from China and Papua New Guinea.

Her research interests lie in sustainable cities, social justice, and development in developing countries using methodologies including environmental assessment, machine learning, data-driven approach, and spatiotemporal analysis.

Research Summary 
Wenlan’s PhD topic is about improving data justice for flood risk assessment in developing countries with a case study in Nairobi, Kenya. She will conduct a risk assessment for informal settlements in Nairobi, and identify the most vulnerable digital invisible groups. The results will be used as evidence for informal settlements upgrading projects.
