Biography:

Human Ecology focuses on the听two-way听interaction between people and their environment, and the Anthropocene puts this centre stage.听A major plank of the听international response to听Anthropocene climate change and biodiversity collapse听focuses on听natural resource management, especially听conservation set-aside.听The Human Ecology Research Group I convene draws together social and natural sciences听researchers听integrating interdisciplinary approaches to听understanding impacts of听environmental policies听on听rural land use, livelihoods and wellbeing, particularly around the global South.听We听work听with local users,听development agencies, civil society professionals and resource managers.听We听aim to encourage听positive change in natural resource governance in ways that support poor听people鈥�s听wellbeing alongside environmental sustainability.听We听seek听to co-produce findings for local people to negotiate more effectively with state and entrepreneurs, eventually scaling up to influence state policies, investment and community-led management of natural resources, with local cases鈥� adoption of research-led policy ultimately leading to wider societal change.
