The Rock Room Project is a research and exhibition project based in Graduate Sculpture and was set up in 2013. The project collaborates with the Department of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Earth Sciences and ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Museums.

Working with the neighbouring context of Earth Sciences generates particular opportunities and questions which lie on the edge of exhibition making, looking at matter, materiality and form, both in real terms as well as to do with the fantasies surrounding the disciplines. The core of the project is an annual . This revolves around attempts to find new forms of exhibition making, to question the very idea of exhibiting and to look at the potential of collaboration. We aim to explore spaces that represent other forms of logic, beliefs, knowledge and disciplines such as architecture, geology, astrophysics, or applied art.

Features and events of the Rock Room Project include annual ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Earth Sciences Laboratory tours for Graduate students to the Rock Physics, Micropaleontology and Geochemistry Laboratories, the Cold Rooms, the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Regional Planetary Image Facility, the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Marine Engineering wave machine, the Anechoic Chamber, as well as the Anatomy dissecting rooms - to look at ideas around materiality, scale, visibility and form. was held at the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Mullard Space Science Laboratory in Surrey in March 2015. takes place at the Rock Room, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº on 11 and 13 May 2016.
