    Made of nine individual photographic panels, the tunnel book represents locations from different countries of my upbringing. Its three-dimensional quality helps to simulate a multi-layered interpretation of my cross-cultural identity. Although each panel represents a different place, overall, they create one image – of what I call home.

Eva Bachmann – MA/MFA/PhD

I am a multidisciplinary artist with photography being at the forefront of my practice.

My current work developed from looking at my mixed background whilst exploring the broader interpretations of culture and place. Borrowing from the theory on semiotics, I decode the language of mundane spaces, tracing cultural and historical references through the layers of time. By tracing the cultural history, I attempt to uncover people鈥檚 collective consciousness throughout time and, with it, my sense of belonging.

In my photographic series, I often juxtapose subtle similarities of vernacular architecture.

My aim is to depict certain qualities of a place, to convey a multi-layered complexity of identity intertwined with language and cultural heritage.
