SEW/13 - Czechoslovakia, Second World War years (1939-1945)

Between July 1941 and Aug 1942 RWSW was responsible for producing a weekly report on Czechoslovakia for the Political Intelligence Department. In addition to this official duty, RWSW was also in close contact with prominent Czechoslovak exiles in Britain, notably the president in exile, Beneš. His last published volumes "Masaryk in England" (Cambridge, 1943) and "A history of the Czechs and Slovaks" (London 1943) were concerned with Czechoslovak affairs. In March 1945 Beneš funded a Chair of Czechoslovak Studies at Oxford University and it was offered and accepted by RWSW.
