Will
Will of John Jackson of Plantation Goedverwagting, east coast of Demerary made in 1839 and proved 24/03/1843, PROB 11/1976/319. In the will he left legacies of 拢200 to his mother in Annan Scotland, and 拢500 to his sister Helen, and the remainder of his estate to the seven 'children of Margaret McKenzie', named William, Helen, Margaret, John, Susan, Bryce [?] and Isabella Jackson. The will makes clear that he was a manager or attorney rather than owner of the estate and of La Bonne Mere. |

Born into slavery in Carriacou, Grenada, Malvina Wells became a lady's maid in Edinburgh and a trusted family friend to her employers.

A cover note outlining the contents of the document.
