Biography

  1. Michael Fenn was ‘owner’ of eleven enslaved people in St Thomas-in-the-East, Jamaica in 1817; nine people in 1920 (and follows Elizabeth Fleming [q.v.] in the Register); nine people in 1823, plus three ‘purchased’ (one from George William Hamilton, executor for the late Dr Poole (q.v.), and Alice Mills, registered in this parish by Elizabeth Fleming deceased in 1824).

  2. Michael Fenn was be identified as a planter in 1812, 1813 and 1815; as Admor. For the estate of the late John Joseph Kelly of St Thomas in the East in 1817; and as a storekeeper in 1817-1819.

  3. Michael Fenn Esq. of Bath was buried by J. Stainsby (q.v.) 28/03/1825.

  4. Michael Fenn bequeathed property including enslaved people to the formerly enslaved and recently freed woman Maria Verity, ‘mulatto’.
