1826
[Number of enslaved people] 102(Tot)

Return of John Thomas Ellis, his own property. Previously 100 enslaved. NB that it is not at all clear what the relationship is between this return and those for Ellis's other properties: Lion Castle (St Thomas) showed no return before 1829; Welchmans Hall (St Thomas) showed 116 enslaved in 1829 and a previous total of 94. On the other hand the return for the Gibbes Plantation (St James) showed 109 in 1829 and a previous return of 102 which is why it has been included here. But NB that this return was given in St Thomas in the Register.
