T71/1229 (Counterclaims): counterclaim from Wm. Fitzgerald, a planter of Trinidad, claiming assignment of the compensation money to himself in exchange for 拢5000 currency. Indre of assignment for 拢2000 atttached, dated 17/03/1835. However, the counterclaim was withdrawn (settled?).

Jamaican-born widow of a prominent slave-owner; resident in Britain following the death of her husband in 1818. Accused - and acquitted - of the cruel treatment of some enslaved people whom she brought to Britain with her.

A cover note outlining the contents of the document.
