William Edward Carroll, The End of Slavery: Imperial Policy and Colonial Reaction in British Guiana (Ann Arbor, University of Michigan Press, 1970) p. 200: reference to Mr Davidson (a member of the Court of Policy), who bought half of Vigilance estate for 拢2000. 18 months later, in 1838, he sought to sell it to a group of labourers for $85,000 (拢18000) .
